    The tinkers treat their animals very cruelly but the gypsies treat them well. The tinkers have very bad horses, the gypsies usually have good ones. The Sheridans are very good horse-jobbers. They follow up all the fairs and they are good judges of horses.
    There is a third class called around here "travellers". In other places they are called "poor people". They were once well off but misfortune made them poor. They go round begging. Some of them stay in farmers' houses by night. They are usually well treated by the people because they are always honest and are still regarded as respectable.
