- About six miles on the south side of the Mallow there is a range of rocks which are called by the name of Carraig Cliodhna. There are many superstitions connected with these rocks, and even to-day the people of the district would not dare to move one rock fearing some misfortune would befall them if they did so.
These rocks got their name from Cliodhna a beautiful lady who is said to have appeared on top of them very often on summer evenings long ago, and on these occasions she was always engaged in combing her hair with a silver comb. One evening, however, she came down from the rock to where some young people were dancing at a cross-roads. It is said that she danced with one young man and then by some magic spell she worked upon him he was compelled to follow her, and into the rock they went, which, as soon(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
