   barrel of a writing pen, using a narrow stripe of Corduroy for wick. In a week's time we were invited to Pat's house to see his Ink-bottle lamp burn, no globe was used on the ink-bottle lamp.
   This was how the Ink-bottle lamp first came into use - for over 30 years it was made use of in this, and the adjoining parishes.

   The majority of the Landlords were Protestants, their Catholic tenants got no respect. Every work or job that was going was given to protestants, so the young fellows grew restless and joined the fenian movement. They drilled by the light of the moon in lonesome places _ _always afraid the police would come on them at drill. Pat Skerrington and Michael Hill were Fenians, (Captains) my father was a Fenian. In fact, every man and boy.
