    Catholic young men joined the Fenians. The Fenian Movement flourished and became strong in, and around the town and Parish of Castlerea.

  2. At a Court held in the Court-House, Castlerea there were three Young men from the town of Castlerea, Viz John Fox, Malachy Fox and Hugh Flynn, were sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labour in Roscommon Jail.
