    XIV. The young girls promise to bring flowers to the Immaculate Virgin, when the Springtide comes.
    To scatter flowers, is to offer Thee, the least sigh, the greatest grief, pain, and happiness, every little sacrifice. These shall be my flowers.
    - The Little Flower.
    When first we feel the genial breath of Spring.
    And see her scatter wide her lustral dews,
    We'll bring to Mary as an offering.
    The Fairest Flowers of Nature, we can choose.
    When velvet green is spread along the hills,
    When the rosebuds start their dreamy eyes to ape.
    When the dale smells sweet with nodding daffodils
    And the honeyed cowslip tufts the golden slope.
    When the violet peeps beneath the hedgerow's shade,
    And the hedge itself perfumes the balmy air,
    When the pale narcissus smiles in sylvan glade.
