I was telling you the yarn how me grandfather met the black dog, and how he stuck the spong in him, and how he found the spong in the morning, and it stuck in a big heap of odd stuff for all the world like jelly. Well, there was another man one night, and he was down on the river, poaching for salmon, and he had a big spear with him. At that time a lot of fellows used to go in for that, but you'd see no fellows around here bothering about it now.
