It takes my Mother a quarter of an hour to make the churning in Summer but it takes her longer in Winter because the weather is colder. The churning is always made by hand and it is always used upwards and downwards.
The dash is given a rolling motion from side to side when gathering the butter. The sign she get when the butter is made is that it comes up in the lid with the milk.
There is always water poured in the churn first hot water and then cold water.
