    that night. All boys go out kicking cabbage and pelting it at doors. If anybody looked into a mirror at twelve o'clock on that night, they would see their future wife, or husband. All people would be afraid to go out on November night for fear the fairies would take them. The young people get two nuts, they put a boy's name on one of them and a girl's name on another then they throw the two nuts in the fire. if the two jumped up to-gether would be married and if they didn't they would not be married.
    The 23rd of June is St John's feast. On that night there is a bonfire in every village. In the evening a few of the village boys go round the village with a bag. and they get some turf from each person. They also gather sticks and stones. They make the bonfire usually on a little hill, first of all.
