- Long ago when a person would die, the people would stop the clock immediately. The night of the wake, there used to be plenty of tobacco and clay pipes also snuff.
Whatever pipes were not used they would be taken to the graveyard the day of the funeral and left on the grave. They should take the longest road to the church. When the funeral would leave the house the people used to turn all the chairs and tables upside down.- Collector
