    "Well now do, Con, make haste and roast the egg for me, before the mistress comes in, and believe me it will be we[?] for you."
    So Con thought it all out. It might be dangerous to anger the creature, so he roasted the egg in the ashes and afterwards fed the lad with it, though he didn't like the job very well.
    "Now, my sweet little fellow," said Con, "who are you and where did you come from, for certain I am that you are not a natural child."
    "Oh, then Con, you never said a truer word than that. I am one of the good people. I am sent here by our king as a bit of punishment, but next Hallow Eve I will be back and dancing on Cnoc Magh.
    "Well" said Con. "when and where were you born?"
