Uos an uisge means the fort of the water. There are a few forts in the village and it is not known from which it took its name.
There are six people over seventy years. One of the women is eighty six years but she cannot tell stories because her memory has faded away. One man can tell Irish stories but his memory is not too good. His name is Thomas Murphy.
The houses were more numerous in the village long ago. Some families have died away long ago and more of them went to other parts of the district and sold their land.
