- When our Lord was dying on the cross it is said that the robin came and tried to pull the nails out of his hand and feet. While doing so a drop of blood fell on his breast and that is why the robin has a red breast ever since.
There is a cross on the donkey's back from the mane back to the tail and across the shoulders. They say that this is on him because our Lord rode on him. One day Our Lord was passing where a hen and duck were feeding. It was raining (when) and Our Lord went in under the hens wing to let the shower pass but she picked him and He had to go under the ducks wing. The duck left him there and he made her feathers grow in such a way as not to let any water touch her skin.- Collector
