- (continued from previous page)With joy at seeing Cloons Grand (Bldgs) Buildings.
Andnow I do mean for to lay down my pen,
And to say no more of its beauty,
The gentlemen now that possess the place,
To praise them i think its my duty,
These noble ancestors form Germany came,
They are of the Uilesians that first did leave Spain,
Julius Ceaesar was great & McDonnell the same,
That now occupy "Those Grand (Bldgs) Buildings. críachThis song refers to Cloona Mills, Cloona, 1 mile from this school (Brackloon) where corn- wheat- oats- etc were ground 80 years ago, & later tweed was woven there from wool got locally. The wool was spun into thread in England, came back to be woven into rough flannel blankets, rugs, shawls etc. & sent to England once more to be dyed. Then the stuff (some of it) was returned to Cloona for sale to those who supplied the wool in the first instance, as well as to any others willing to purchase it.- Collector
