- There is an old castle in the townland of Rappa in the Parish of Ardagh, in the county of Mayo, situated about three miles from Ballina. There are thirty two rooms in this castle, the roof of which is gone off some of them. There is a four storey house. Three storey's over the ground and one storey under the ground.
There are stone steps leading from the passage to the cellar. The Knoxes that lived in this castle. I do not now who built the castle. The highest part of it is four hundred years old. There is one room in this castle, that can never be opened.
There are a lot of ruined stables in the yard of Rappa. there is a "Mill House", a "Coach House", and a "Harness Room." There is a bell in the Coach house, but it can not ring because the(continues on next page)- Collector
