  1. There is an old road starting where the new school at Rathnamagh is now building. It winds its way through Netley Park and comes out on the public road a little bit below Netley gatehouse. There is another road branching towards Rappa and it was once part of the old road. It continued its way on the road that now leads from Rathball to Cloona and so on to Ardeochan cross-roads. It went on through Barna Dearg and into Ballina. It was the only road leading from Moygownagh and other places around it at that time which is over two hundred years ago. This road was noted for thieves. The part from Rathnamagh to below Netley is not now used as there is a good road leading from there to Ballyneety and on to Rathnamagh.
