- Another game in which both boys and girls participated at wakes has an important historical significance.A number of boys and girls formed into a ring in the centre of which sat either a boy or a girl. Those in the ring marched around singing."We all are marching to Quebec,
Where the drums are loudly batin'
Where the 'mericans they gained the day,
And the British are retratin'So now the war is over,
We return to where we started
So open up the ring,
And let another in.
That seems to be true-hearted"It fell to the lot of some boy members in the ring to take his place beside the girl in the centre. How this was determined I do not know as I have never seen the game played. It was a popular game some 60 or 70 years ago.
