- Myles Tinney was a travelling musician who lived about twenty years ago. He played on a fiddle. He was only half-witted and always wore priest’s or minister’s clothes. When a protestant minister gave him clothes he went to the chapel and washed them with holy water. If he played in the street he never went around collecting money. He always slept in country houses at night but he never played on his violin while in these houses. Usually he slept in the corner near the fire on bags which he carried with him.The usual place for the camping of tinkers in this district is around the “New Line.” Sometimes up to ten families of tinkers would be camped on the “New Line”
