Con Martin of Breecy. Ballyshannon could run four of the smartist police of Ballyshannon with a still of poteen on his back. He lived about 50 years ago and the people o the district have some very interesting stories about him.Carrier
Pat Mc Geever who lived in Batchelors’ Walk Ballyshannon was a great carrier. A boat from Liverpool had arrived at Ballyshannon carrying foodstuffs and timber for a local merchant named Myles. One of the sailors carried 56 stones of bacon round the hold of the schooner and said “There is not a man in Ballyshannon could do that”. Mc Geever who was one of the workman unloading the schooner lifted the bag and carried it round the hold of the vessel (and back again) and over the gangway and over the rail of the ship and out on the quay and back to the hold again and after leaving down the bag he said “There is not a man in Liverpool who could that.” and the amazed sailor agreed with him.- Collector
