    Father Boyle were trying to get Ardara Parish. Seán would like to get a signment for Father Mc Gettigan to get Ardara. Have you the stone well go on. He met the Body Guard and says he “Who goes there”. “Seán Mc Nelis from Donegal”. “Clear says he” Seán left down the stone and they all cleared. Seán wouldn’t give his message to anyone but left down the stone and passed on to where the Pope was sitting. The Pope asked his errand. He told it “That’s for the Bishops of Ireland to do”. If you don’t give the signment I’ll put the place on fire. He got it and cleared. They got up on the horses again and away. They landed in Connaught. Seán agreed he would work for the others then. “This is a Wedding house and we want the Bride”. “Go in and start to dance take out the Bride for a dance and trip her and we’ll get her then says the others. Seán did so. Seán made out and they carried her out. They again arrived in Bony Glen. Seán says you wouldn’t have her only for me. Seán got her and cut the sign of the cross around her. They couldn’t touch her then. One blew his breath on her and left her dumb and deaf. Seán took her home and cared for her as well as his wife but she was deaf and dumb. She was with Seán 12 months on Halloweve night and he went up to the Sphynx again. Says one “This night twelve months we had a big night. We had Seán Mc Nelis here, and he was too smart”, “I left her deaf and dumb” says another. Another says “If she had a drink out of that decanter there she would get her talk and hearing again”. Seán walked in and got the decanter, took it and gave her a glass. She got all right and Seán took her home to Connaught. The mother was making oat bread. She went up to the room and was drying her tears coming down again. “Why are you crying” says Seán. “I had a daughter and she got married 13 months ago and if she was living to day I would say that was her”. “This is your daughter” says Seán “open the grave to see what is in the coffin. It was a “heather Broom”. Poteen was plentiful and the drinking started. Seán had a couple of
