- A burn can be cured in the following way:-It is said that if a child only a few days old, licked a mankeeper that that child would have a cure for a burn. A mankeeper is a small little animal about the size of a frog but darker in colour and is generally got in bogs or marshy spots. My Aunt, who lived near Westport but is now dead, licked a mankeeper when she was two days and anyone who ever came to her with a burn she cured.
