    a thimble, pins and an iron.
    Many women of this district knit articles for their own family such as caps and stockings; also jumpers, cardigans and quilts. Some make the quilts out of homespun thread while others knit them out of cotton or woollen thread bought in a shop. The quilt is knitted with a special kind of needle called a crochet needle and it is begun in the centre. Then it is knitted into a square and widened at each corner.
