- We have sixteen sheep all white except one that is black. Four of them are mountainy sheep and have black faces but no horns.
They are washed in the end of May or the beginning of June. Then they are left for a week or ten days until the wool is thoroughly dry before it is shorn.
My father shears the sheep and he would shear about fifteen in the day. The weight of a good fleece of wool is about seven pounds. We sell some of the wool in Crossmolina and get on an average seven pence or eight pence a pound. My mother cards and spins into thread some of the
