    of the floor is about six inches higher than the rest. It is there they lie, and they feed on the low portion out of a trough.

    We let them out every evening for an hour or two into a field which is at the back of their house for to play about, but if they were confined in the sty, they would go bad in their feet, and take a disease what we call crippage.
    Pigs are also liable to take a disease called Swine Fever which very often proves fatal. The danger of their taking this disease can be lessened by keeping the house in which they are kept thoroughly clean and well ventilated, and by giving them some sulphur or cattle salts occasionally - once a week or so - on their feeding.
