- Catching Birds.
When I was small I used to try to catch wild birds. I got a riddle and a short forked piece of a stick and a long string. I set the riddle on its edge and propped it up with the forked stick. Then I tied the string to the stick. I got some corn then and scattered it where the riddle would fall. Then I took the other end of the string and hid myself round a corner. If a wild bird would fly down and begin to eat the corn I would pull the string and the stick would come from under the riddle, and the riddle would fall over the bird so that it could not get away.- Collector
