- Tramps - Beggars.
Tom O'Neil is not a beggar. He comes from Fanad. He carries a pack on his back. He sells men's socks. Some people buy from him. I suppose he gets the socks cheaply in some shop. The socks are tied up in bundles. An oilskin cloth is tied round them and tied to his back by a rope. He is a big strong looking man. He is clean shaven and has red hair. He is not young. His clothes are not very good.
Barney McGinley is a tinker. He stayed in Mr. McColm's house. He sells pans, strainers and basins. He buys the sheets of tin in a shop and makes the articles himself. He puts a rope through the handles of the tins and carries them on his back. Barney McGinley is a tall old man. He has a moustache. He wears rough clothes.
Charles McGarvey is a tramp. He comes from Termon. He buys and sells cattle sometimes. A saying of his is, "Dear save us." He is a small man. He wears a hard black hat and a black overcoat. He puts his cattle into other people's fields to graze.- Collector
