- Once upon a time there was a house built near a fairy rath. The people who lived in the house had a baby boy. One night his mother left him sleeping in his cradle and went out to milk the cow. When she came in to the kitchen again the baby was gone from its cradle. The mother guessed at once that the wee folk were in and had stolen her baby away. She went out to the rath and she said to the wee folk leave back my child with me safe and sound as you got him or I will blow up your rath. An hour later the baby was left back safe in its cradle looking fine and healthy just the same as before. He grew up to be a strong man and lived to an old age. He never had to shave and his mother always believed that that was all the harm the wee folk did to him.
