- Cromwell landed at Ringsend in Dublin and marched from there to Drogheda. On his way he passed Rush and captured Baldungan Castle. He left a trail of blood after him.At Dremona there was a battle fought with the Danes, and in later years bodies of soldiers were discovered in the same place where the Battle was fought.Near Loughshinney there is a cave called the Danes' Cave. A number of priests took refuge in the cave at the time of Cromwell. They were found and beheaded by Cromwells army.
