    know of "Jack the Bachelor" the notable smuggler of Rush when the Rush fishing fleet traded with France. He married a girl from Rush whose name was "Faine" and his own name was O Connor. At this time there was a heavy tax on the wine and silk that came into the country from France. jack and his men used to smuggle in the wine and cover them with herrings. He now lies in Kenure cemetery.
