The fox is said to be the cleverest animal on earth. It is a very swift runner and few hounds are able to keep up with it.
It lives in a big burrow called a den under the ground. When the hounds follow it, it runs into this hole for safety. It's food chiefly consists of hens, ducks geese, turkeys and lambs. It does a great deal of damage on the farmer because it steals a lot of his fowl.
Many men follow it trying to shoot it because its skin makes a lovely fur for a woman's(continues on next page)- Collector
