- Queen MaeveAbout the time of Christ there lived in Connaught a queen named Maeve. She had her castle at Cruachan in Co. Roscommon but she had another one on the top of Knock Meadha.
She had a white horse called "The Enchanted Steed" which was able to bring her from Knock Meadha to Cruachan, in twelve minutes. She was very proud of this horse and one night as she was coming home from Cruachan the horse was killed by Maeve's enemy.- Collector
