    made before the marriage takes place. If a man who has a son and a man who has a daughter meet in town they go into a public house and they have a few drinks. They talk about the marriage between their son and daughter and when they come out the match is made.
    The bridegrooms parents give stock or some article of furniture such as a bed or sideboard or some other useful article. The bride in lots of cases has to have a fortune and the night that the father is giving the fortune to his daughter, the man whom she is going to marry comes to the girls house and he brings some of his friends with him and they have a party there just as if it were
