- In olden days people used to build houses in lakes and they were called Cranneogs or lake dwellings. THere is a lake in Loughatorick about one mile from where I live. A part of it is County Clare and a part of it in County Galway. There's about one acre of an island in this lake it is covered with shrubs and trees it is also that the Cranneog is round this island when people are out in boats on a clear(continues on next page)
