- We have a churn at home it is about 3 feet high 2 feet wide an top an 4 feet wide on the bottom there are round sides to it it is about eight years old the various parts are called the dash the cup and the lid. The churning is done by hand the churn dash is always going upwards and downwards strangers who come in to the house take the luck of the churning if they dident. It is about a hour with a big churn and with a wheel churn it takes a half an hour how the people knows when the butter is made.
The cream cracks and butter comes on the sides of the churn and of top of the milk.
