    Jack Mahon lived in Moate you know,
    an honest man who'd plough and sow,
    All he wanted was a wife to cook his meals and bless his life.
    Into Miss Shallow he did walk,
    and on the subject had a talk,
    he loved he swore and hinted and Mary Ann consented,
    The day was fixed and the marriage cam on and Mary Ann was tied to John.
    When they came home the spree began in honor of Jack and Mary Ann,
    There were pipers there and Jewsharp too
