    Aon uair amháin bhí fear ann agus b'é an tslighe beatha abhí aige ag díoladh fraoich. Gach lá bhíodh a triúr mhac amach aige 'ghá bhaint.
    Lá amháin rug siad ar éan beag agus iad ag baint an fhraoich. Chuir siad i gcás é. An chéad mhaidin in a dhiaidh sin nuair a dhúisigh siad bhí ubh óir beirthe ag an éan. Thug a n-athair an ubh chuig an baile mór agus dhíol sé é. B'fhiú trí phunt é.
