In former times people used to go to Saint Marshale's well to get water to cure their sick cattle. They had to say certain prayers before lifting the water. - Marriages take place every day in the year except in Lent and Advent and especially from the sixth January to Shrove Tuesday.
Long ago the people thought many days and months unlucky for getting married, and they were very particular in naming their marriage day. They thought Tuesdays and Fridays very unlucky days and May and October unlucky months.(continues on next page)- Collector
