- (continued from previous page)door was of wicker work also. In later times skins of animals stretched over the stakes were used and places left for windows and a skin was used to close these at night. In stormy weather a skin was used for a door to divide the house into apartments.
- Old houses are to be found in the district but there is much improvement in them compared with the houses long ago.
In olden times the houses were of clay, stones and sods having what was called out shots at the back of them. In the out shot was a bed. There were no windows on those houses and air holes were left in the walls as cattle(continues on next page)
