- I heard this story from my grandmother. She died about two years ago. She told me about a woman that died and was sent backa gain to do penance for her soul. The penance that was put on her was that she would have to stand in a river for seven years and wen the seven years would be spent she would go straight to Heaven. There was a little house beside the river and every day for the seven years she went in to warm her feet. The woman used to have a very big fire down for the old woman that was doing the penance. So this day the old woman came in and said this is my last evening ever to come in I am going to die and I am going straight to Heaven. The old woman was very(continues on next page)
