- A few hundred years ago there was a man named Tom Stapleton, living in the parish of Mohill. He was a strong young man and a good card-player. He did no work but spent his time going to amusements. One day he met a man named Tadhg. Tadhg asked Tom to go to Mohill on the following Sunday and they would have a boxing match.
