    I knew 3 holy wells near my home - Kilmactrann, Kilmacro ad Lasair.

    strange place. I think it queer there is no holy well near it. I saw the people going round these wells on their knees, doing their stations. They never stood up, until they had finished. The people used to come down the old boreen at Kilmactranny down from the hill. They would come on asses.
    When they cut down the trees round Kilmacroy well, they got a cross inside in one of them. The whole country went to see it. As well as I can remember, it was a Protestant cut the tree and saw the cross first.
