time of the civil war and he met a lorry load of soldiers, which were in pursuit of him and he jumped a high gate at Ms Maguire's and made his escape from the soldiers and they were firing their best at him, and John Dwyre, an ex RIC man, who was an eye witness said that it was the best escape he ever saw.
There was a curate in this parish and he lived in John Reilly's of Druminbawn and he was down at a station in Augalough. He told the men at the breakfast that he had no hay for his horse. They told him that they would bring two back loads up to the Chapel the following Sunday. So William McKiernan of Derndriad and Pat Rawl of Killassity carried up two back loads and John Mollahan and Francis Harahan both of Legonomer carried the hay up to Druminbawn and when the hay was weighed there was over three cwt. weight in each load.
