- My townland is Tullamore in the parish of Ballybunion in the barony of Irraghti Connor. It contains about twenty-five families and one-hundred-and four people. Hartney is the most common family name.
The most of the houses in this townland are thatched. The word Tullamore means the big height, because it is situated on the side and at the foot of Knockanore Hill. There are eight old people in my townland over seventy. Some of them can tell stories in English but very few can speak Irish.
In this townland the houses are more numerous presently than in former times. There is only one ruin in this townland where the FitzMaurices lived in former times.
The people emigrated in great numbers to America in ancient times. There is not a house in the townland but they have friends(continues on next page)- Collector
