Local Song
“It being a fine summer morning,”
1. It being a fine summer morning,
As the birds sweetly sang in each bough,
I heard a maid singing most charming
As she sat down milking her cow.2. Her voice was so charming, melodious,
She left me scarce able to go,
My heart it was shrouded in sorrow
Sweet Cailín deas crúidte na mbó.3. With courtesy I did salute her,
"Good morning, most amable maid,
I am your captive slave for the future".
"Kind sir, do not venture," she said.4. "I am not such a precious rare pearl
That I could enamour you so".
Says the Cailín deas crúidte na mbó.- Collector
