- The wild birds found in this district are grouse, pheasant, blackbird, thrush, swallow, lark, wren, robin, owl, crow, magpie, cuckoo, faoileán, woodcock, snipe, curlew, crane, hawk, tammy-blue, plover, sparrow, gold-finch, willy-wag-tail, pigeon, green linnet, red linnet, twedy linnet, wild duck, darby, jay, jack-daw, refogue, mule, parrot, starling, pea-cock, corncrake.
The old cuckoo migrates in the early days of August but by the end of September all of them have gone. The swallow migrates at midwinter. The corncrake leaves about September, but it is a water hen during the winter.
