- (continued from previous page)for the baptism of St Brendan. Saint Brendan was born at Kilfenora near Fenit. On the night of his birth Bishop Erc saw a bright light in the sky and knew that a wonderful child was born. He went in the direction of the light and found the child in a little house in Kilfenora. He took him to a well inTubrid and baptised him there and named him Brenday which means "fair or bright drop".
- One day during the Penal Days a priest was saying Mass in a place now called Wethers' Well. Suddenly one of the people watching out gave the word that the soldiers were coming very near and that they had bloodhounds with them.
