Before Behy school was built the children of Ballyholan went to a school at the Quay and a school in Mullaun's. The school in Mullaun's was a little thatched house where Mr. P Kilgallon lives now. There was a woman named Mrs. Fall teaching in it. She used a blackthorn stick for a cane. The pupils used to have to learn sums, reading, English and history.
