    churning. Everybody gives a hand with the churn as it is easy to twist. Yes nearly all strangers because it is a old custom for any stranger who comes in , to give a hand with the churn. From twenty-minutes to a half an hour thats what it takes to churn the barrel churn any way By hand most people churn with in now a days. The milk is strained off the butter first then the butter is washed twice. It is lifted out off the churn with the wooden spades and then put into a wooden butter dash and salt is sprinkled on the butter, after wards it is worked with the butter spades and made into little boys or sometimes into different little shapes with butter spades.
