- We have a lot of old tales about the weather. Some people say when they see smoke going up straight out of a house that that is a sign of rain. If they see blue and green and other colours in the fire they say there will be a storm. Sometimes when the swallows fly low they say it is a sign of rain.
When the seagulls are inland are flying round quickly in large crowds people say there is a storm on sea. If big black clouds are floating in the sky and it gets very dark that is a sign of rain. When you can see Croagh Patrick very plainly or if you imagine the hills and mountains near it is said that we will have bad weather.
