  1. There are eight forts in the townland of Knockbeg and there are about an even distance apart. The forts are built in a perfectly round shape, they are hollow in the centre and they are raised much higher than the rest of the land around them. There are situated in such a way that is a person was standing on any one of these forts he can easily see the next nearest fort to them. The forts are all in a very good state of repair as people do not like interfering with them. The people are afraid to pass near these forts at night because they think they homes of the fairies.
