Sligo.
It was in that school that my grandfather and grandmother were taught. Master Bruen was the teacher's name. There were not any hedge schools long ago. The teachers used not to teach the children much Irish at that time. Arithmetic was the principal subject taught. They used to write on slates. English books was ll the books they used. Long ago the teachers used to be very cross. - The schools long ago are not like the schools nowadays, they were small buildings and the(continues on next page)
